OK someone has to rise to saxon's defense here.
The saddest part of that day is it meant we would never know what these 3 could have accomplished if they had lived. I mean, Valens was 17, Holly 22, Big Bopper the greybeard of the bunch at 28. The music they left behind was impressive, what they could have done afterwards was unlimited.
The most haunting story of that crash was the Waylon Jennings/Buddy Holly exchange just before the plane took off. Holly told waylon he hoped his bus froze and jennings replied to holly he hoped his plane crashed. try living with that the rest of your life.

I think Waylon did a pretty good ass job soaking his pain in alcohol & drugs & out came some pretty sweet ass music. As sad as it was, I'm glad Jennings took the bus.
