Hey Steve....I think if the have a shot at both they should take the one they can get signed quickly and in camp. Suh probably is the better choice, but what f*cking good will he be if he holds out looking for the perfect contract. Hopefully all that is worked out prior to the draft.

Who's to say McCoy wouldn't hold out? Contract negotiations are always somewhat of a crap shoot. Especially when it's the Lions saying they want to draft you. uhh

My thoughts exactley. Who ever signs and isnt a threat of a hold out would be nice.

I have been praying since the middle of the NFL regular season that the Lions would land another top 5 pick to draft Suh. I figured he would at least be a top 5 pick. Never thought he would be the #1 overall. ...so I kind of lost interest when all  signs pointed towards the Rams taking him. Now that the Bradford talks have heated up again. ...I'm starting to say a few extra Hail Marys through out the day in hopes Mayhew is smart enough to take him if he is there. Don't get me wrong. McCoy is no slouch and would be a very nice constellation. Yet when great defensive players such as Berry and Suh are going to be available this year. I would like us to get at least one of them. I've changed my tune about taking Berry over McCoy. If Suh is gone we definitely have to take McCoy or trade for more picks. But if Detroit trades down into the bottom half of the top 10 I would like to see them still get an Okung or Berry.

You are right about that Jeff...I just used Suh as an example. McCoy has just as much of a chance to hold out. That is why I was saying to draft the one you can get signed and in camp.

I can almost assure you suh wouldn't hold out. He's a hard worker, and will be ready to get into training camp as soon as possible to improve himself.

That being said, it is the NFL, so who knows.

Depending who his agent is though, the agent controls the negotiations, not so much the player. You'd think most agents watch out for their clients' interests, but there are slimeballs who are only interested in filling their own pockets and will squeeze teams as much as possible.

And lets be completely honest here....

Would you be in a rush to get to camp with the Lions...  Undecided

How long has it usually taken to get their 1st rounders signed in the last several years?

It hasn't been too much of an issue lately outside of Mike Williams, the lazy shit.  And Cherilus, but those mid-first rounders are always tougher to sign cuz of the slotting that goes on.

Looks like the Lions are quickly rebuilding their DL, and if they Draft Suh/McCoy they could actually have a really good DL next year.

I agree Brock.  The Lions' got a little better over the weekend.  No matter which way they go in the draft they defense could be considerably better.  But considering how god awful they have been there is no where to go but up.

I just hope Burleson can handle being a #2 reciever.  They paid him an awful lot of cash to be a decoy for Calvin Johnson.  But he has proven in the past that he can put up numbers when he is not the focus of defenses.
