why not just make it a 200 team tourney so every facking team in the NCAA can make it...

What are they doing following Gary Beckman and the NHL protocal.... let's have everyone except like 4 teams make the playoffs...

that's what the NIT is for... all the f*cktard programs that don't matterenough to get the national exposure in the big tourney!

Actually only 16 of the 30 NHL teams make teh playoffs...

That's 14 teams too many... infact there are about 30 too many teams in the NHL!

Don't take away the mid-major auto bids because then college bball becomes just as bad as college football.

The mid major automatic bids are ok.  Usually the winner of the league title and then the conference tournament.  But if they expand the field you are going to get more of those schools whose record got fat off playing nobodies.  Because with an expanded tournament there would have to be more automatic bids to make it fair.

The at-large bids are the problem.  Most of the mid-major teams that get the at-large bids wouldn't win 10 in-conference games in a Major Conference.

Just leave it how it is.  But they won't.  More teams=more games=more T.V. time=more $$$$$$$.

This is a stupid argument period; every sport's playoffs are just fine the way they are, MLB is fine with 8 teams making the playoffs, NFL is fine with 12 making the playoffs and NBA/NHL are fine with 16 teams making the playoffs. Similarly the NCAA tournament is fine with 65 teams, if anything they should scale it back to 64 and get rid of an at-large bid; if the NCAA field were expanded, all the teams in the NIT that barely make it to .500 will be on the same level as teams like Duke, Kentucky and Kansas, don't expand the field period.

I'd be all right with expanding it to 68, and maybe 72, but only if you call those games where you play to face a first or second seed play-in games.

Jumping to 96 is just too much too fast.

I like it right where it is. Anymore is too many. First weekend is for one good team to slip up and lose to a cinderella story and everyone gushes about how "special" this time of year is only for them to get crushed by the next major that they face. Then the next weekend is for the serious teams to weed each other out and then have your final four.
You could expand the teams and have top tier teams with byes, but then again we already have that with conference tourneys. Just giving the games a different name.
Then again, we could just do away with all of it, turn it over to the BCS system and they could play games at the Orange Bowl and Rose Bowl etc, works for football just fine, doesn't it?

I have never seen a team left out that could really cry.

Leave the system alone.
