Some talk out there about the possibility of expanding the field from 64 to 96 teams with the top 32 teams receiving byes...

Boheem likes it LOL

What do you think?

I think it would be fun you could have a little mini-tournament for the mid-majors. Also more games, more fans happy, more money. Win-win no?

why not just make it a 200 team tourney so every facking team in the NCAA can make it...

What are they doing following Gary Beckman and the NHL protocal.... let's have everyone except like 4 teams make the playoffs...

that's what the NIT is for... all the f*cktard programs that don't matterenough to get the national exposure in the big tourney!

Unless they let everyone in some half assed school with 16 wins over Parapalegic University or Blind State College is going to bitch because they didn't get invited.  I think 64 teams is plenty.  They can do away with that stupid 65/66 team team play in as well.  What does that prove?  No matter what when they post the bracket you can usually only point to 8 or 10 teams with a legit shot at winning the title any way.

I think it is good the way it is, at 64 teams. The underdogs and small conference winners still get in and get their shot that way, some lately have been making some ridiculous upsets (see 13th seed Siena's upset over 4th seed Vandy last year, 14th seed Northwestern State's upset over 3rd seed Iowa in 2006, and 13th seed Bradley's upset over 4th seed Kansas also in 2006.)  These upsets don't usually lead to long tourney runs by these low seeds though. I think George Mason's Final Four appearance as an 11th seed in 2006 is one of the few exceptions. We really don't need to expand the field. The way it is set up right now still gives all the small schools their shot.

I'm fine with it the way it is, many small schools can still get in. It would be fun to expand the tourney and watch the elitist basketball pricks (Bilas, Dukie V and the like) get pissed, but I don't want May Madness...

this is what the regular season is for; to play your way in especially if you don't have a conference tourney.  having 96 teams is way to many teams.  as a fan of the defending national champs i wouldn't worry about my team getting in.

I like it at 64 errrrrr, 65.  It would turn into a bit of a clusterf*ck if it went more than that.  Maybe 68 would be it, have the 8 lowest teams play in prelim games, but at this point I'm not in favor of anything more than that

They should shorten it to two teams: UNC and whatever team you think is #2.

Does anyone but degenerate gamblers watch the NIT anyways? bad basketball

folding more garbage teams waters down the product..expanding just makes that 64th ERR 65th teams cinderella appearance that less meaningful.

Stick with the current format..

Screw filling out a bracket with over 100 teams in it...

Not unless their team doesn't make the NCAA...
