There is one song that has the ability to make every hair on the back of my neck stand on end. Shubert's "Gretchen am Spinnrade". It is a passage from Goethe's Faust.

Anyone else listen to this kinda stuff? What are the pieces that do it for you?

I like Beethoven, and maybe some Handel for inspiration.

But my favorite is none other than P. D. Q. Bach.

Another work that I absolutely love is "Ode to Joy." This song always plays through my head when something good happens for me. I would even hum it after scoring a TD or beating a friend at a video game when I was younger.

Toccata and Fugue is awesome too, Andrew.

I'd say it's Mozart's Requim for me for personal reasons.  To me it's a very moving piece of music, and is one that I have actually have the pleasure of performing as member of a choir what seems to be many years ago now.  I like listening to classical music it always calms me, all types of it.

Classical may not be for everyone; but imho, if you want one good cd go for "Vivaldi Gala".

...Isaac Stern, Jean-Pierre Rampal, David Oistrakh, Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman.

It can get you pumped more than you think. Plus, the women will will give much cred when you play it over coffee in the A.M. after they roll out of the hay in the morning.

Pretty much anything Itzhak Perlman touches turns to gold, dude is a stone cold freak. A Vivaldi Four Seasons (Winter) follow-up for Eric...
